STMP - Draft Tourism Vision Statement

Attracting more visitors to Anguilla will depend on getting a number of factors right – improving and extending the product range, improved infrastructure, enhancing the amenities and facilities, increased destination marketing.  To succeed, tourism development must be grounded in the reality of what the island can support and secondly, must reflect what is unique about what Anguilla has to offer.

6.1 Anguilla’s Unique Qualities

The feedback from the Visioning Forum break-out groups, as outlined in the previous section, suggests that Anguilla’s uniqueness lies in its:

  • Pristine beaches and clean environment.
  • High quality hotels and villas.
  • World class cuisine.
  • Relaxed ambience with distinctive Caribbean flavour.
  • Peace and tranquility.
  • Safety.
  • Friendly people.
  • Exclusivity – a private hideaway.

(ii) Site Visits and Individual Consultations

Extensive consultations with stakeholders will be undertaken on an individual basis as well as site visits.

(iii) Workshops/Forums/Round-Table Discussions

To guarantee full representation in the formulation of the STMP, it is proposed to hold a number of workshops, forums and round table discussions with stakeholders during the assignment, to bring together all the information, resources, opinions and personnel related to the project. These workshops/meetings will discuss the issues to be addressed in the project terms of reference and the deliberations will be included in the STMP Report.
