Chief Minister Fleming At Viceroy’s Ground Breaking Ceremony
Wednesday, November 15, 2006

Viceroy had its official ground breaking ceremony yesterday afternoon at 4:00pm at its Barney’s Bay Construction Site.   Mr. Alex Samek Viceroy’s Assistant Vice President for acquisitions and Development chaired the proceedings.  Reverend Doctor Cecil Niles gave a heart-stirring invocation and Deleon Richardson, a fifth form student, gave a wonderful rendition of the national song.

The Honourable Chief Minister Osbourne Fleming gave some brief remarks after breaking ground with Mr. Samek.  Mr. Fleming firstly acknowledged Mr. Leon Roydon of Malliouhana for his pioneering efforts in Anguilla during times when there was little attention or interest in Anguilla as a tourism destination.  Mr. Fleming went on the say that while there were numerous ground breaking ceremonies held at the said vicinity before that the Government was pleased to have Viceroy because it was evident that they were serious and committed developers.  Chief Minster Fleming also mentioned that Anguillians are to benefit from the projects.  However, he added that there was also great importance placed on the timely completion of the projects throughout the island for the benefit of the nation.

A reception cocktail followed at Viceroy’s Sales Department at Meads Bay.  Lawyer Keithley Lake’s birthday was acknowledged just before the cake cutting at the end of the reception.
